Statement of Faith
What we believe
The Bible is our final authority in all matters of faith and practice. These are the truths we hold dear.
Calvary Baptist Church is an Independent Baptist church. We stand on the historic doctrines of the Christian faith, summarized below.
The Bible
We believe the Scriptures are inspired by God, preserved without error, and are the final authority in all matters of faith and practice.
The Trinity
We believe in one God, eternally existing in three persons: Father, Son, and Holy Spirit.
Jesus Christ
We believe Jesus Christ is the eternal Son of God, born of a virgin, fully God and fully man. He lived a sinless life, died on the cross for our sins, was buried, and rose bodily the third day. He ascended to Heaven and will personally return for His church.
The Holy Spirit
We believe the Holy Spirit convicts of sin, regenerates, indwells, and empowers believers to live a holy life.
Salvation
We believe salvation is by grace through faith in Jesus Christ alone, not of works, and that all who are saved are eternally secure in Christ.
The Church
We believe the local church is a body of baptized believers, independent and self-governing under Christ, whose mission is to preach the Gospel, baptize, and disciple believers.
Baptism & the Lord's Supper
We believe baptism is by immersion, following salvation, as the public testimony of faith in Christ; and that the Lord's Supper is a memorial of Christ's death, observed by believers in the church.
Separation
We believe Christians are called to live holy lives, separate from sin, false doctrine, and worldliness.
Future Things
We believe in the imminent return of Christ for His church (the rapture), the future tribulation, the millennial reign of Christ, and the final judgment.
“Thy word is a lamp unto my feet, and a light unto my path.”
Psalm 119:105
